Wrestling shines as Paris 2024 nears

The Olympic flame is lit, and the world is watching. Paris 2024 is just around the corner, and soon, all eyes will be on our wrestlers and our sport. This is our chance to showcase the speed, power, and unbreakable spirit that defines wrestling. More importantly, it's an opportunity to highlight the respect, discipline, and heart at the core of our sport.

What we're witnessing now is incredibly exciting. Our 2022-2026 strategic plan is no longer just a vision – it's a reality! From the impactful coaching programmes in Croatia and Guatemala to the UWW Academy's innovative use of technology and the electrifying atmosphere at the African Beach Wrestling Championships, our sport is thriving.

Since our reinstatement we have seen remarkable progress. Women’s Wrestling has flourished, and we’ve expanded our reach, globalised our sport and engaged with younger fans around the world. Today, wrestling stands stronger as ever.

To everyone contributing to this success – the dedicated athletes, passionate coaches, and committed officials – thank you. You are the heart and soul of wrestling.

Paris 2024 marks a historic moment for female athletes. Olympic champion Aline Focken (GER) -the first German woman to win Olympic gold in wrestling- recently carried the Olympic torch in Alsace, France, becoming an inspiration for the new generation.

Dakar hosts African Beach Wrestling Championships

The sands of Dakar, Senegal, came alive with action during the second African Beach Wrestling Championships! From June 22-23, 103 wrestlers competed across four weight classes in both men's and women's categories at the Arène Nationale de Lutte.
